The Beginning of the End
Hello. I scrapped my last blog. I leafed through it, found nothing memorable and hit delete in under ten seconds. Well.. There WERE some things memorable. But I choose to keep it in my mind rather than on some public page in cyberspace where no one would be impressed.
Speaking of endings, I have also decided to put on hold my glorious reign over social networking sites e.g Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Why? Because I find it.. Nauseating or in today's urban tongue, gag-worthy. Again, why? Instead of using it as a tool to share useful knowledge and information, people have abused the sites' functionalities as a how shall I put it mildly.. Bragging tool. Takes photo of items recently purchased, uploads on Instagram, caption "Alhamdulillah", checks phone frequently for a thousand likes or so. Or uploads a collaged photo on Facebook of a selfie with husband and the mighty expensive jewelry he bought, caption "My husband is the sweetest person on earth. I am one lucky girl, thanks Baby for the expensive jewellery". Sound familiar?
I admit I have been one of those people. But then one day as I was trying to decide which filter to use for the photo of the item I wanted to display to the whole wide world, I thought to myself OMG I really need help. I felt disgusted with myself and knew I had to stop. Some people may have not been blessed with what I have. That doesn't give me bragging rights, does it? Which is why I chose to shy away from these social networking sites and be here instead.
Thus, the beginning of an end.
